Forum: Live Art Debate in Cornwall
http://forums.myspace.com/t/3867660.aspx?fuseaction=forums.viewthread
The forum has been set-up to enable dialogue and debate surrounding Live Art
practice and specifically to discuss its presence within the arts in Cornwall
and the South West. We would like to invite you to use this space as a platform
to speak about your experience/s of Live Art and performance based practice and
what it means to you. Live Art Falmouth (LAF) is an annual, two-day festival of
live art. It developed in direct response to a growing need from students and
artists within the region for an open, experimental platform and critical
dialogue for live and performative work. LAF took place for the first time in
June 2007. A team of students from University College Falmouth in the UK, alumni
and Penzance based curators Andy Whall and Delpha Hudson of Art Surgery
collaborated in the development and curation of the event, the first of its kind
in Cornwall. More than 35 international, regional, and student artists
contributed to an innovative programme of live and performance art, including
interactive video installation, cutting edge technology, live VJ-ing, video
screening of performance based video work, sound/sonic art performances and an
artist led discussion. This two-day platform featured artists ranging from the
emerging to the established, those working locally to internationally, including
University College Falmouth student artists and alumni. This year, LAF08 is
shaped by a committed team of student artists from UCF and from Dartington
College of Arts, local artists and UCF alumni Paul Carter and Alexandra Zierle
managing and mentoring the project. Please forward this to anyone you feel may
be interested.
