Phish Grants for Music Education
The Mockingbird Foundation offers competitive grants to schools and nonprofit organizations that effect improvements in areas of importance to the Phish fan community.
Full proposals are by invitation only, and will not be considered if unsolicited. Letters of Inquiry are due August 1, 2008.  For more information visit

Music Education Funds
The ASCAP Foundation provides grants to organizations engaged in music education for aspiring songwriters and composers.
Letter of Inquiry requesting funding for the 2008 calendar year must be received in The ASCAP Foundation Office no later than August 1, 2008 http://www.ascapfoundation.org

National Endowment for the Arts - Grants for Arts Projects
are now available on the NEA's website. Organizations may apply under the following categories:  Access to Artistic Excellence: To encourage and support artistic excellence, preserve our cultural heritage, and provide access to the arts for all Americans. An organization may request a grant amount from $5,000 to $150,000.  August 11, 2008. To view the guidelines, go to
www.arts.gov/grants/apply , select the field or discipline most relevant to your project.

The Best Buy Teach Award Program
recognizes creative uses of interactive technology in K-12 classrooms. Winning programs focus on kids using technology to learn standards-based curriculum. Schools must be located within 50 miles of a Best Buy store to be eligible. Applications must be completed and submitted online by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on October 12, 2008.

US Airways Education Foundation
Governed by a group of educators, community leaders, and US Airways employees, the foundation will award grants of up to $5,000 each to nonprofit organizations located in the markets served by the airline. Grant application deadline October 1, 2008.

Surdna Arts Teachers Fellowship Program
Arts Teachers from specialized, public arts high schools are invited to apply for funding for artistic development.  This program offers teachers the opportunity to immerse themselves in their own creative work, interact with other professional artists and stay current with new practices.  Maximum award $5,000.  Grant guidelines will be posted after July 31, 2008.  For more information visit

Best Buy Music Zone Partnership with United Way, provides after-school programs that give students the opportunity to experience learning through music

Fender Supports starting a guitar class in the K-12 School environment.

Melody Program of the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation Provides musical instruments and instrument repairs to existing K-12 school music programs. 

The Mockingbird Foundation Inc. Programmatic focus is music education for children, letters of inquiry due February 1 and August 1 each year.  Full proposals are by invitation only, and will not be considered if unsolicited.

Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation Supports music education through the donation and repair of musical instruments to undeserved music programs and individual students nationwide.
