High School Musical is coming to the Herberger Theater Center this summer! Sign up to bring your summer classes on a field trip to see VYT’s blockbuster production, June 13 & 20 at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. or June 22 at 1:00 p.m. Based on the runaway Disney Movie hit, High School Musical follows a group of students struggling with issues of popularity, first love and the value of family and friends. Valley Youth Theatre Summer Camps: The magic of theatre comes to life during Valley Youth Theatre’s summer camps! Catch one of two summer sessions for different age groups. Camps include workshops in acting, music, and dance by our highly trained theatre professionals. Students will learn character development, story building, movement, improvisation, voice training, theatre terminology, audition skills, script analysis, and make long-lasting friendships in the process! Students will also participate in a theatrical showcase for family and friends at the conclusion of the session. Sessions run throughout the summer. Corrido Contest - Eighth Annual Bilingual High School Context
Sponsored by the University of Arizona Poetry Center.  Students, Grades 9-12 from Arizona High Schools.  Original Corridos must be typed and sent in duplicate.  The author does not need to provide music for the corridor.  For Teachers a cross curricular less plan, which can be adapted to Music, English, Spanish, History and Social Studies classes is available at www.artsedge.kennedy-center.org/content/3772 Deadline: February 14, 2007 at 5PMFor more information on the Contest visit

CALL FOR YOUTH-MADE FILMS FOR NATIONAL SCREENINGS
Americans for the Arts will be hosting its next, Annual Convention in Las Vegas on June 1, 2 & 3. The Convention will bring together a stellar collection of talent, intellect and dynamism. Stay tuned for more info, which we’ll send out as available. In the interim, we’re planning the content and booking speakers.

During one evening, Americans for the Arts will host a movie-night of youth made films that vary in style, content, and age of filmmaker. You can see some wonderful examples from Arts Engine. We’d like to invite you to submit youth-made films or to share this call with any one of your colleagues.

Sample of Criteria and Submission Guidelines

Films must be made by people 21 years old or younger; films of youth art activities or about arts education are not sought at this time;

Films must be less than one hour in length;

Subject matter is not important; effectiveness of the piece is most important.

Films must be received by Friday, February 23, 2007.
