The Arizona Commission on the Arts recognizes that maintaining a healthy arts organization is an ongoing process and that’s where the Consultant Services Program comes in.

Available year-round, Consultant Services connects Arizona’s non-profit arts organizations with peer professionals in the field.  The Commission maintains a roster of more than 30 trained consultants, called the Peer Consultant Roster, with specialties in areas such as organizational assessment, facilitation, board development, planning, marketing, understanding participation, accessibility, arts education program planning and assessment and more. If you have identified an aspect where your organization can strengthen and grow, consider a consultancy.

Since 1991 organizations have received Arizona Commission on the Arts consultant assistance in a variety of areas.  Here’s what the field is saying about their participation in this program:

“I believe we are the perfect example of why this is important.  The consultant’s suggestions were smart and led our Performing Arts Center to think in new directions.  I believe the consultant was an instrumental part of our success in this subscription season at a time when we needed her most.  We set a goal of 200 subscribers our first year and had to revise when we hit 200 in our first two weeks.  We are happy to report we have 405 subscribers in our first season.”

“What a great opportunity it is to have a peer consultant come in and point you in a direction you might have overlooked, forgot about or just didn’t know.”

“The consultant did a terrific job of uncovering important issues and giving time for the board to discuss alternate solutions -- and reach consensus on how to proceed.”

“I cannot begin to tell you how the consultant helped me focus and get back to what was most important.”

“The consultant kept us very focused on the tasks at hand.  He was able to articulate goals and clear objectives from complex issues and multiple priorities.”

“Again, many thanks for a very successful training session.  You were organized, dealt with needed areas, and listened well to our concerns.  Our board seems much more aware of their role….”

To discuss the possibilities for a consultant to work with your organization call a Commission Program Director at (602) 255-5882 or click here for a list of staff.
