Douglas Richards Contact: phone: 602-992-6428 Douglas Richards began his arts administrative career in 1954 as Manager of the Beaumont Symphony Orchestra Association, Beaumont, Texas. In 1959, he accepted the position of General Manager of the Phoenix Symphony Association and served in that capacity until 1970 when he accepted the position of Director of Performing Arts, Films, and Television at the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, D.C. He left the Endowment in 1972 to form his own consulting company, Douglas Richards, Associates. During the next seven years, his company did evaluations of over two hundred nationwide arts organizations for the National Endowment for the Arts, State Arts Councils, and private foundations. In 1989, after a stint in the private sector as a profit-oriented business owner, he accepted the position of Development Director in Phoenix for the Arizona Theatre Company. He retired from his position in 1996, and accepts a limited number of consulting assignments. Current or former clients include: Arizona Theatre Company, Herberger Theater Center, Theater Works, Franciscan Renewal Center. Areas of Expertise:
