Karen Drake is a partner in Drake & Daily Project Consultants, a firm whose expertise is in helping nonprofit and public sector agencies enhance their chances of long-term sustainability. Her 30 years of management experience can help arts organizations to implement new programs, identify and secure resources, manage volunteers and staff, and develop partnerships and networks. As a consultant, Karen has done strategic and program planning, grant-writing, and board and policy development for a variety of nonprofit organizations. She is skilled at facilitating meetings and planning processes of all kinds.

Before joining Drake & Daily, Karen was the Director of the Chandler Public Library System, which she helped to develop from a one-room, 7,000 square-foot facility serving 20,000 people to a multi-branch system serving a population of over 200,000. She served as liaison to the Library Board, the Friends of Chandler Library Board, and the Mayor’s Literacy Task Force and has extensive experience in board development and training. While with the Chandler Public Library she also established a foundation and a major gifts campaign, oversaw four multi-million dollar building projects, and wrote and administered grants totaling over $10 million. She can bring that experience to assist arts organizations to plan capital campaigns or building projects.

Karen was instrumental in establishing and coordinating an annual multicultural arts festival for the Chandler community. And as a library administrator and program planner, she collaborated with many local and state arts organizations to bring a wide range of arts programming into the library.

She has a Masters Degree in Language & Literature Education from Truman State University and a Master’s of Library Science from the University of Arizona.
