Patricia O. Bjorhovde, CFRE, works for the Association of Fundraising Professionals where she serves as Director of Chapter Services for the western U. S., providing consultant services to chapters of the association. Previously, she was Senior Director of Development for The University of Arizona College of Fine Arts for 12 years. During that time she managed a fundraising program that raised more than $24 million in outright and planned gifts for scholarship, program, capital and special projects in Art, Dance, Media Arts, Music and Theatre. She has 29 years of professional experience in fundraising and management for arts organizations of all sizes.

Pat has held executive positions (Managing Director or equivalent) for a professional choir, an orchestra and a professional modern dance company. She has held senior development positions with a regional orchestra, a major orchestra and a college.

In addition, she served for two years as a grantmaker for the equivalent of a state arts council, where she was responsible for a substantial grants program. As a management consultant, she has facilitated the strategic planning process for many organizations; provided board development training for a young nonprofit arts organization; developed a new management structure for an organization that places artists in the schools, worked with both a small professional opera company and a presenting organization to hire executive directors; and created grantmaking guidelines and a formalized the decision-making process for a foundation.

In areas of fundraising, Pat has provided fundraising planning and training services to the boards of organizations in the visual and literary arts, theatre and music, and has provided assistance in development, grantwriting and special events to organizations in Arizona, Pennsylvania and California.

Pat, a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), is a former member of the international board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, a past president of the Southern Arizona Chapter of AFP, immediate past president of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and serves on the board of the Tucson Chamber Artists. She holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Arts in Philanthropy and Development and teaches fundraising for the Nonprofit Management Institute at Arizona State University.
