I am President of PhilanthropyWorks, a consulting firm focusing on helping nonprofit organizations achieve excellence by building organizational capacity. Arts organizations we have worked with include, in Arizona,  Gnosis, Ltd. and Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts and, in Pennsylvania, VOX - The Renaissance Consort. 

We partner with clients to design and implement realistic strategic initiatives that work! Consulting projects we have been involved with include:

• The Executive Directors RoundTable (in collaboration with St. Luke’s Health Initiatives): facilitate monthly sessions that provide nonprofit executives with peer learning and peer support experiences
• Nonprofit Management: strategic planning; organizational assessments; developing policies/procedures; executive coaching
• Board Development: retreats (for board and board & staff); board assessments; recruitment strategies; training
• Fundraising/Resource Development: developing fundraising plans/implementation: events planning,  earned income strategies, annual giving and capital campaigns, major donor cultivation and solicitation strategies; volunteer solicitor training; grantseeking research and proposal writing
• Communications/Marketing: case statements; positioning/branding; newsletters/collateral materials
• Executive Search: recruitment of executive directors/professional development staff

For more than 30 years, as a university administrator, nonprofit executive, consultant, educator and writer, we have assisted hundreds of philanthropic organizations to advance their missions. In 1999 we launched the journal PhilanthropyWorksAZ; I served as Publisher/Editor until 2003. I have held  leadership positions on  numerous nonprofit boards, the Arizona Social Change Fund, the Continuing Education Review Board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the fundraising committee of a community political group.  I am an active member of the St. Luke’s Health Initiatives Health in  a New Key Consultants Group
