Grants and Programs - Folk Arts
Arizona Folk Arts Apprenticeship Program - The Folk
Arts Apprenticeship Program is a new program in Arizona that supports folk
master artists and apprentices working and studying together. It is a
collaborative program between the Arizona Commission on the Arts and the
Southwest Center at the University of Arizona. This program is made possible by
a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Residency Roster - The Residency Roster features
folklorists, artists and performing companies in all disciplines selected for
their artistic quality, ability to communicate about their artform, and ability
to carry out a residency. These selections are made through a rigorous panel
process, which includes a written application, artistic review and interview.
Artists Professional Development Grants - Professional
Development Grants are available throughout the year to help Arizona artists and
representatives of, in general, small and mid-sized Arizona arts organizations
attend out-of-state conferences/workshops/seminars/retreats that will contribute
to their professional growth. Subject to approval, Professional Development
Grants to artists or arts organizations are awarded up to $500.
Artists Career Advancement Grants - Professional
Arizona artists apply for up to $750 to help advance a specific aspect of their
career. 13 artists were served through this program in Spring 2005.
What the Commission Provides to Artists
- An array of programs for individual artists at all stages of professional
life. Programs are generally year-round, unless indicated.
