    What is Local Arts Development?

In 1974, the Commission’s Expansion Arts program, serving Arizona ’s ethnic populations began. It was the first state program of its kind in the country. The program encouraged the presentation and preservation of Arizona ’s rich ethnic traditions. The Expansion Arts initiative was created by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Expansion Arts has changed to Local Arts Development. The Local Arts Development Program works in partnership to conceptualize, research, design and implement programs that have a long-term impact on a local level in underserved, ethnic, rural and emerging communities for organizations and individuals; and to develop programs to impact the work of the local arts agencies around the state.

Target Community Workshop

Dear Arizona Arts Organization Leader:

Recently I met with representatives from Target. They are interested
in knowing what your organization is doing in Arizona and are coming to town to hold a Target Community Meeting. The information on the gathering is below. As you know, the Target Corporation is a great friend of the arts across our country. Please consider taking the time to attend this important convening hosted by Target.

All my best,
