Americans for the Arts 2007 Annual Convention The arts require risk taking. As creative leaders and arts professionals, we pilot partnerships and projects through uncharted territories. We encourage citizens and communities to connect through sometimes tension-filled conversations. We suggest new ideas and foster space for diverse perspectives. These balancing acts require courage, persistence, and a sense of humor. And we experience the rewards every day—both personally and for our communities—from the conference room to the classroom, from the studio to the streets.

Personalities and politics! Controversy and community! Access and aesthetics!  At this convention we’ll explore these and other feats of daring. Through lively exchanges in sessions and group arts experiences, we will redefine, rejuvenate, and return to our work with fresh perspectives on what it takes to cultivate creative communities.

The city of Las Vegas places big bets on the arts, where design and performance take on monumental scale and spectacle. And in the city’s neighborhoods and the expansive desert beyond, artists and community leaders dare to reflect more than the bright lights of the Strip. Join us in a city that that builds its future on great risk and lavish reward.

TAAC Open Dialogue XI: Global Connections to Cultural Democracy This conference is a biennial convening of arts organizations and artists from communities of color and their supporters in America.  The Association of American Cultures is working with WESTAF to produce this gathering this year.  July 12-15, 2007, Denver, CO.  For more information go to www.westaf.org/TAAC2007.
