Grantmakers in the Arts to hold Board Meeting in Scottsdale This Week

Grantmakers in the Arts (GIA), the only national association of private and public funders making grants to artists and arts organizations in the United States, will visit Arizona this week. Beginning Wednesday, March 19, the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will play host to grantmakers from across the U.S. as GIA convenes for a meeting of their board of directors.

Arts Commission Executive Director, Bob Booker, was recently appointed as Vice Chair of the board of directors for GIA, and will be in attendance.

The mission of GIA is to provide leadership and service to advance the use of philanthropic resources on behalf of arts and culture. Grantmakers in the Arts is currently working in the following areas:

  • Capitalization and Community;
  • Arts Education;
  • Diversity in the Arts funding arena; and
  • Research in Individual Artist Funding.

Grantmakers in the Arts provides a vast array of information and resources, and publishes the Arts Reader three times a year. The Reader contains articles by arts leaders, artists, researchers, administrators, and philanthropists, provides a guidepost for current trends in philanthropy and in the nonprofit arts sector.
