Summary: Organizations and individuals can make big influences on changing public policies through engaging advocacy.  Sushma Raman argues it is the time now for foundations, large and small, to engage in public policy. When facing current U.S. budget crisis, we need foundations to fill the financial gap created by diminishing public resources as well as to step up and participate in the public policy debates and strategic fashion.
