The Tempe Arts & Culture Marketing team is a centralized resource serving the promotional, advertising and communications needs of several dynamic workgroups within the Arts and Culture Division – Tempe Center for the Arts, Tempe History Museum, Tempe Community Arts and Tempe Public Art.

The Arts and Culture Division seeks a talented and organized Graphic Designer to create and manage the Division’s many visual and digital assets, including printed collateral, promotional posters/signage, digital/social ads, emails, website graphics, presentations, publications and more. This role requires an experienced eye for effective marketing design and messaging, proficiency in current design technologies and the ability to organize and work productively in a fast-paced environment.

Hourly Wage: $30.00 per hour
Work Schedule: Maximum 40 hours per week, primarily business hours Monday-Friday

Essential Job Functions:
• Collaborate with city employees to plan and execute creative and comprehensive marketing campaigns, materials and assets for Arts & Culture Division programs, events, and services through the production of ads, themes, collateral, promotional items, social media and website content.
• Coordinate the Arts & Culture Divisions graphic design needs; collaborate on strategy; create, edit, and optimize graphics and video content for print, digital, and social media platforms; coordinate editing and production of basic video content.
• Coordinate and oversee the print (4-color and spot) and production process for collateral and promotional items.
• Work in partnership with employees who assist with social media, website, and graphics within the Division.
• Collaborate with the Team to create, edit and maintain images and graphics on webpages that are accurate, consistent, interactive, easily navigable, visually appealing and reflective of Division’s brand.
• Build and organize a repository of photo, video and branding assets for the Division and manage them in an orderly manner for logical access by all.
• Work with community organizations and stakeholders to coordinate marketing and promotional efforts.
• Must be able to: reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 20 pounds; communicate clearly and effectively; communicate with other facility staff to ensure coordinated execution; work in a standing and/or sitting position for up to eight hours; follow directions and ask questions for clarification when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education:
• Three (3) years of graphic design experience in marketing, advertising, or a design-centric environment.
• Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in advertising, marketing, design, fine arts, or a degree related to the core functions of this position.
• Proficiencies: desktop publishing, graphic design software, and basic website/digital software.

This is a full-time temporary position with limited benefits and mandatory contribution to ASRS.
