Taking place every October, National Arts & Humanities Month (NAHM) is the nation’s largest collective annual celebration of the arts. In honor of NAHM, Americans for the Arts has partnered with arts and community leaders from across the country to host Creative Conversations every year since 2004.

What are Creative Conversations? Creative Conversations are local gatherings of engaged citizens in communities across the country. As part of a grassroots movement to elevate the profile of the arts in America, these events spark dialogue, spur advocacy efforts, and create networking opportunities for arts professionals. Started as a program of The Emerging Leaders Network, Americans for the Arts is now expanding the scope of the event to invite all arts leaders and interested individuals to participate.

Creative Conversations are community-driven events, often hosted by emerging leader networks, colleges/universities and arts organizations. So far, two Creative Conversations are scheduled to take place in Arizona.

On October 14th, the Greater Phoenix Emerging Museum Professionals will host their inaugural event at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMOCA), where guests can enjoy great exhibits and a talk by museum director Dr. Tim Rodgers.

And on October 27th at Eye Lounge in downtown Phoenix, the Emerging Arts Leaders Phoenix will host their kick-off event, On Creativity, featuring a discussion with three compelling Phoenix minds on how creativity has shaped personal philosophies and been a catalyst for a career in the arts and culture sector.

Each of these events is free and open to the public, offering an opportunity to connect with your local arts and culture community and to contribute to the national dialogue on the importance of arts and culture in America.
