Resources
This year we hope to get students more actively
involved in
Poetry Out Loud
through different entry levels of participation. If you have any ideas
or would like to be more involved, please don't hesitate to
contact us.
Poetry Out Loud
Student Newsletter
This is the first year that the Arizona Commission on the Arts will be
offering students the opportunity to share their experiences and thoughts
about
Poetry Out Loud with fellow students through an online
newsletter. We will send out a monthly call for proposals for tips,
tricks, and photos of you and your classmates participating in
Poetry Out Loud. This monthly newsletter will be
sent to all teachers participating to share with their students and will
also be available online. If you would like to sign up to receive the
newsletter or are interested in contributing to the newsletter, please email
Kim Willey, Arts Learning and
Poetry Out Loud
Coordinator,

Documentaries
If you haven't YouTube'd Poetry Out Loud take a minute to do so.
You'll find several students have taken their interest in Poetry Out Loud to
the next level by documenting their experience online all the way from
choosing their poems to reciting them in front of an audience. These
students have even gone backstage at their school finals to get interviews
with participants. So, grab a camera and start filming we may even highlight
your video at the state finals!
Newspaper Articles
If you write for your school newspaper, there is
no better way to let the student population know what you are up to than
writing an editorial. Ask your journalism teacher if they would be
interested in highlighting your personal
Poetry Out Loud
story from beginning to end throughout the year. If you don't write
for your school newspaper, speak to the journalism teacher or newspaper
staff at your school about the possibility of their staff, or even yourself,
covering your school's
Poetry Out Loud events.
